Spiritual Care

Spiritual Care is as beneficial for the whole person as medicine is for the body. Every person has a spiritual dimension representing his/her relationships with family, friends or a greater power. It takes a lot of strength to face life when you’ve been diagnosed with a life shortening illness and spiritual concerns often emerge at this time. At STHPC, our Spiritual Care Counselors help you and your family find ways to creatively cope with the issues of your life’s journey.

Spiritual Care does not interfere with your religious affiliations yet often enhances them. Whether or not you have religious affiliations, or you are looking to find meaning to the great spiritual questions, we invite you for conversation-in a safe, nonjudgmental manner- to help you explore your spiritual strengths.

Some of the Spiritual needs we provide:

  • Visits to the home, hospital or nursing home
  • Deeper awareness of spiritual matters important to you
  • Spiritual conversation and fellowship
  • Stronger family relationships
  • A safe environment to explore both positive and difficult emotions
  • Opportunity to explore the meaning of life’s questions and accomplishments
  • Prayers and/or blessings
  • Books and other spiritual resources
  • Liaison with clergy if requested
  • Help in planning end of life rituals, funerals, memorials
  • Practical tools and techniques suited to your specific needs
